HEALING WITH THE LAYING ON OF HANDS

We trace the laying on of hands back to prehistoric times. An innate act in the animal kingdom, it may actually have been used by primitive man. Touching with the intentionality of love and healing is instinctual. One need only to look at a mother and her newborn baby to see how important it is. This act ignites a chemistry for growth in newborns of all species. Without it, they soon wither and die.

Many of us in the healthcare professions have studied and become certified in an ever-growing number of modalities using "touch" for healing. This carefully determined choice attests to the significance of physical touching's interplay with body and mind.

The "laying on of hands" is used throughout a multitude of worldwide religions as well as in alternative medicine. Can anyone, and this includes YOU, use it with the intention of loving and healing? The answer is a resounding YES! All that is really necessary is a desire to help another feel better. We use Healing Touch on people and animals. It even helps your plants and trees.

Education on how to direct healing energy is certainly a positive adjunct for this kind of work. But even if none of this information was in our medical tool chests, intentionality alone would be a very power-filled energy. Some call it prayer and meditation. The next time you are in a situation where it feels right (and is socially acceptable to do so) you may wish to give a gentle touch to someone who is suffering. You will be surprised at how much this act of kindness can be appreciated. Always ask permission first.
