WHEN WE LOSE THE INNOCENCE

When we lose the innocence, what do we become?  We war, rape, torture, abuse, destroy, and for what end?   Who profits from the atrocities?  Do you remember a time you had hopes, dreams, innocence?

Do you remember a time without war, or hearing over and over again that we are losing so many precious species to extinction?  I love you elephants, big cats, gorillas, sea life, birds, amphibians.  Even the scary poisonous snakes and lizards have a purpose.  Needless to say, without bees, the world will not flourish.  Why does MAN, The Most Prolific of all Predators, believe he can rule the world and all life upon it?  Who gave MAN the right to destroy our rainforests, oceans, and all else put here by an INSCRUTABLE HIGHER POWER?   Is the ‘out of control EGO’ to eventually destroy us?

I BELIEVE IN LIFE AFTER LIFE.  I BELIEVE WE HAVE FREE WILL.
I ALSO BELIEVE:
That this free will MUST be nourished by love, compassion, and enormous wisdom.
What will be the next outcome of MAN’s insufferable violence?  Can we survive ourselves?

Your simple, wonderful writing makes me feel deep emotions. We also do animal rescue work as you do. Thank you. BYW

Thank you for this blog. Here in Queensland west and parts of New South Wales there has been droughts lasting several years. Do you know that all these big wig scientists and agronomists simply have not a clue as to why this is so. They are all blaming climate change instead and the governments all over the world believe that carbon tax will solve the problem.
The problem is deforestation pure and simple. The only way to get rain back in these areas is to replant trees that are good for these areas. Trees are one of the elements of water circulation and purification, plus they cool the environment as well.
But hey, let's face it...
Who wants to listen to reason in the government these days?

Ah, but all innocence isn't followed by the horrible things you named! If that were the case then where did we get:

hospitals
orphanages
animal shelters
elder care
schools for the handicapped
service animal trainers
volunteers of all kinds
churches

Yes, there are bad things and parts of our world is being destroyed; and, worse, people are looking at other people and seeing only what is bad. But there are rainbows, and showers that bring that wonderful scent of spring and the friend who is there when you need them most. I still have to believe that my God is in control.

Very good! Very appropriate for our times. Thanks you, RubyNorma! Jim

So much, if not all, is true. I don't want to live in a world w/o many of those animals you discussed. As for wars, well we know that most of them are for some Greedy politician's or dictator's profit. In the name of many religions, we also have horrendous warfare. The balance is currently leaning to evil. Sometimes it leans to good. In the future, who knows. Perhaps warfare will come for drinking water. Humans are doing a fabulous job of destroying water and the life in it. Just look at Japan's Fukishima nuclear disaster!!!!! Also, the growing human population is so massive now, it crowds out others, including wild-life, plant life, and other humans. Reverend EV
